The Institute

The Indian Institute of Social Sciences (IISS), a Public Charitable Trust established at New Delhi with a view to preparing a competent cadre of experts having adequate knowledge of the social work. The Indian Institute of Social Sciences has designed a six month Certificate course in Social Work for those having 10th pass qualification, one year Diploma in Social Work for those having 10+2 pass qualification and two year Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work for those having a Bachelor's Degree to be conducted through correspondence for enabling the admitted students to study at home and without leaving the place of their work. All the study materials are dispatched within 30 days from the date of admission.

The Indian Institute of Social Sciences helping the aspiring students interested in getting admitted in one of the reputed and recognised universities in the Bachelors and Masters programmes.

Different vocational and job oriented courses have been located by the Indian Institute of Social Sciences offered at selected universities in India. As soon as the students apply to IISS giving their choices for getting admitted in the course they wish to opt, arrangements are made for forwarding their applications to these universities

Aims and Objects: Aims and Objects of Indian Institute of Social Sciences

1. To help provide necessary support in the area of social sciences, opening, establishing. diversifying and strengthening the existing or a new institution including universities, colleges, schools, research bodies and other training as well as educational platforms in Government, public and private sectors.

2 To collect data related to the existing educational and training facilities in the areas of social sciences in different parts of the world in general and the developing countries in particular for further researching on different aspects of social sciences.

3. To help the countries in diagnosing the societal needs and requirements in order to define the basic level of learning to meet the needs of its own population

4. To make special plans for the studies and research in the areas of social sciences, in general and social work, rural development, economics, habitat, sustainable development, management, administration, social justice and empowerment, right to information, health, yoga and alternative medicine, panchayati raj, environment, human rights, computer sciences, hotel management, journalism, mass communication, science and technology, agriculture, horticulture, khadi and handloom development, rural and urban entrepreneurship in particular.

5. To aid in organising conferences, seminars, meetings, discussions, debates, study courses, collection of statistics, exhibitions, shows, tour tips and to establish endowments and scholarships for the promotion and furtherance of the aims and objects of the Institute.

6. To organise and establish educational museums and parks.

7. To conduct sponsored as well as non sponsored research programmes with the support of Ministries, Departments and International Bodies

8. To publish books, encyclopaedias and directories on different topics.

9. To establish institutions for teaching, training and research in different emerging fields and to award degrees, diplomas and certificates to that effect.

10. To organise Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral level programmes in association with Universities and Institutions from India and from the rest of the world.

11. To institute a Chair(s) in Social Sciences in the universities colleges and other teaching bodies to make appointments to teachership, professorship and fellowship.

12. To collaborate, affiliate, federate and cooperate with Universities Government Bodies, NGOs and International Agencies for implementing the projects of developmental nature all over the world.

13. To raise and borrow money for the purpose of the Trust in such a manner as may be decided from time to time to prescribe the consultancy fees, charges, grants in aid etc

14. To purchase, take on lease, hire or otherwise acquire properties, movable or immovable rights and privileges all over the world which may be deemed necessary for convenient for the benefit of the Trust and to sell, lease, mortgage, dispose or otherwise deal with all or any part of the properties of the Trust.

15. To open branches, chapters and constituent centres in different parts of the world and get them registered with appropriate agencies and authorities if needed and felt necessary

for the attainment of the aims and objects of the Trust.

16. To invest the money of the Trust not immediately required, in such securities and in such manner as decided by the Trust including the money collected through fees, gifts, endowments, donations, grants etc.

17. To strengthen the voluntary as well as non Governmental organisations in order to make them discharge the responsibility for the implementation of a positive, social, cultural, economic and educational content bearing projects and programmes all over the world.

18. To provide consultancy to other institutions and organisations in all countries of the world for the establishment of similar institutions with a view to bring sustainability.

19. To strengthen Global Social Sciences Education Programme.

20. To finally provide education that prepares students for leadership and social responsibility teaching them to think and communicate effectively and develop a global awareness and sensitivity for a better global understanding, world peace and unity.
